Closure Decisions

All weather-related closure decisions are made by the CSC Board, with input from the Pool Manager and/or on-site staff. Factors considered include:

• Severity of weather conditions
• Member attendance and forecasted turnout
• Staff availability and safety

Severe Weather (NWS Warnings)

This includes thunderstorms, lightning, or any official warnings issued by the National Weather Service.

• The pool will be cleared immediately upon thunder or lightning.
• The pool will remain closed for at least 30 minutes after the last observed thunder or lightning.
• If heavy rain limits visibility to the bottom of the pool, the pool will close until full visibility returns.
• Weather conditions will be monitored by the Manager or guards, who will consult with a Board member for any further closure decisions.

Extended Poor Weather

This includes light rain, overcast skies, or unseasonably cool temperatures without official weather warnings.

• The pool will generally remain open, and staff will stay on-site unless directed otherwise by the Board.

Uncertain Daily Weather 

• In cases of uncertain weather (e.g., early morning storms or unstable forecasts) or if poor weather is expected to continue and delay opening:
  • Check the Clayton Swim Club website and member dashboard for live updates on weather-related closures before heading to the pool.
  • Check email and social media (Facebook and Instagram) for updates.
